Dear Marion ISD Families,
We understand that Marion ISD families and staff have many questions regarding our Return to School for the fall semester. Through your feedback, as well as continued guidance from the State of Texas, the Texas Education Agency and local health authorities, we are prepared to safely reopen Marion ISD schools for the 2020-2021 academic year on August 12th.
On June 18th, the Texas Education Agency informed all school districts in Texas that they must reopen to on campus learning. We realize some of our students are ready to return, but we also know some of our students are apprehensive about returning to the classroom. With guidelines from the Governor, TEA and local health authorities, we have formed two options for families to select as required by TEA: Traditional on campus instruction with COVID-19 safety protocols in place or remote learning.
After viewing our Marion ISD 2020-21 Return to School Plan, families will select either the On Campus Learning option or the Remote Learning option. The selection process will begin July 30 and end at noon on August 3. Families will make their selection on the Learning Option Commitment form and will need to make a separate selection for each child in the family. Students will have the opportunity to transition between these models as designated within the campus plans. Once a learning option has been selected, students will be required to remain in their current learning option until the transition date for the grading period. Click here to access the Learning Option Commitment form. Dependent upon what learning option is selected on the Learning Option Commitment form, you will ALSO need to complete either the Parent-Student Remote Learning Contract or the Parent-Student On-Campus Learning Contract.
Please read through our Return to School plan carefully in order to make your selection. Note that all information is preliminary and subject to change based on state and local health and education decisions. The goal is to start strong with plans and systems that are safe, healthy, and rigorous, yet provide peace of mind throughout the 2020-2021 school year. As the situation unfolds, we will continue to navigate and act on decisions that are in the best interest of our school community and pledge to keep you informed about these decisions moving forward.
We are receiving updates and changes on a daily basis from local, state, and national authorities. These guidelines may be subject to change as the pandemic situation remains fluid.
